Resolution relative to acceptance and funding of the 2016-2017 Wisconsin Emergency Medical Services Funding Assistance Program Grant from the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Fire Department to accept and fund the 2016-17 Wisconsin Emergency Medical Services Funding Assistance Program Grant from the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services in the amount of $67,146.80. The purpose of the program is to enhance the provision of emergency medical services. This is a continuing grant that will be used to fund related emergency medical service training costs.
Body
Whereas, The Wisconsin Emergency Medical Services Funding Assistance Program is a formula-based grant program authorized by Wisconsin State Statute 256.12(4) and (5) that provides funding to certain ambulance services that provide first-in 911 patient transport ambulance response to a particular geographic area; and

Whereas; Funds are disseminated via a plan that consists of a two part formula payment that includes a base sum plus a factor based on run volume, service area, population, and EMT (emergency medical technician) roster size; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services for the Wisconsin Emergency Medical Services Funding Assistance Program Grant to assure that the Milwaukee Fire Department to support EMS refresher course training; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 07/01/16 to 06/30/17 would cost $67,146.80 entirely provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the acceptance of the grant from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services is authorized and the Fire Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwauke...
