Title
Resolution relative to the application and acceptance of an outdoor recreation grant for Burnham Park, from the State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and authorizing a sub-grant to Milwaukee Public Schools, Department of Recreation and Community Services.
Analysis
This resolution will allow the Department of Public Works to apply for and accept a State of Wisconsin outdoor recreation grant to make improvements at Burnham Park, located at W. Mitchell Street & S. 35th Street.

Body
Whereas, It would appear that the City of Milwaukee is eligible to apply for outdoor recreation grant funds from the State of Wisconsin, Department of Natural Resources for improvements to Burnham Park located at W. Mitchell Street and S. 35th Street; and

Whereas, It would appear that City involvement in this grant would result in benefits to the City:

· Helping Milwaukee Public Schools, Department of Recreation and Community Services, meet the goals of its Outdoor Recreation Facilities
Master Plan (2015)
· Ensuring that recreational facilities and programs are designed to meet the special needs of all residents regardless of age, gender or ability
· Providing residents with an opportunity to engage in recreational activities
· Providing residents with safe and reliable recreational equipment; and

Whereas, This grant-funded project would cost $798,450, of which $399,225 (50%) would be provided by the grantor and sub-granted by the City of Milwaukee to Milwaukee Public Schools, Department of Recreation and Community Services, and $399,225 (50%) would be provided by the Milwaukee Public Schools, Department of Recreation and community Services; and

Whereas, Milwaukee Public Schools, Department of Recreation and Community Services has budgeted and will make expenditures that are eligible and appropriate as the local match; and
