Resolution relating to continued funding of an Urban Development Economic Development Initiative-Special Projects Grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the continued funding of an Urban Development Economic Development Initiative-Special Projects Grant to continue conducting blight elimination and site preparation work in the 30th Street Industrial Corridor to attract new investment to the area.
Body
Whereas, Common Council File No. 100183, adopted June 15, 2010, authorized application for, acceptance and funding of an Urban Development Economic Development Initiative-Special Projects Grant through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development; and

Whereas, The purpose of the grant project is to continue conducting blight elimination and site preparation work in the 30th Street Industrial Corridor to attract new investment to the area; and

Whereas, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81 states that the “carrying over of unexpended funds shall be limited to three years from the year in which the funds were appropriated. An operating grant exceeding this period shall be refunded through a separate resolution;” and

Whereas, This limitation applies to the continuation of said Urban Development Economic Development Initiative-Special Projects Grant; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that continuation of the Urban Development Economic Development Initiative-Special Projects Grant that is administered by the Department of City Development (“DCD”), is hereby authorized; and, be it

Further Resolved, That DCD is authorized to continue the grant without further Common Council approval; and, be it

Further Resolved, That DCD is authorized to expend, from the amount appropriated, sums for specified purposes in accordance with the previously approved ongoing budget for said project; and, be it
