Title

Resolution naming the Commissioner of Public Works, the City Engineer and the Water Works Superintendent as the authorized representatives for the City of Milwaukee for the purpose of filing Clean Water Fund Program and Safe Drinking Water Loan Fund applications with the Department of Natural Resources.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works, the City Engineer and the Water Works Superintendent to be the City of Milwaukee’s representatives for the purpose of submitting applications to the Department of Natural Resources’ Clean Water Fund Program and Safe Drinking Water Loan Fund.

Body

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ Clean Water Fund Program provides communities loans at a reduced market rate for the purposes of the design and construction of wastewater treatment and collection systems and structural urban storm water Best Management Practices; and

 

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources’ Safe Drinking Water Loan Fund program provides loans at a reduced market rate for the purposes of building, upgrading, or replacing water supply infrastructure to protect public health and address federal and state safe drinking water requirements; and

 

Whereas, It is the desire of the City of Milwaukee, a municipal corporation, to file application for state financial assistance for our sewer collection system and storm water Best Management Practices under the Clean Water Fund program, which is a part of the Wisconsin Environmental Improvement Fund; and

 

Whereas, It is the desire of the City of Milwaukee, a municipal corporation, to file application for state financial assistance for our drinking water system under the Safe Drinking Water Loan Fund program, which is part of the Wisconsin Environmental Improvement Fund; and

 

Whereas, It is necessary to designate representatives for filing the required applications; now therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works, the City Engineer and the Water Works Superintendent are designated as the authorized representatives for the City of Milwaukee for the purpose of filing applications for the Clean Water Fund Program and Safe Drinking Water Loan Fund, and that the Commissioner, the City Engineer and the Water Works Superintendent are further authorized to do all things necessary in connection with said applications.
