Title
Substitute resolution authorizing the Department of Employee Relations to extend the current 3-year contracts with Met Life Dental, CarePlus Dental and Dental Blue for one year.
Analysis
This substitute resolution approves the one-year extension of the current contracts with three plans to provide dental services for City employees.
Body
Whereas, Common Council File Number 130204, adopted July 23, 2013, approved 3-year contracts with options for one-year extensions with Met Life Dental, CarePlus Dental and DentalBlue; and
Whereas, Met Life, CarePlus Dental and DentalBlue have provided dental services to City employees from January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2016; and
Whereas, The contracts with Met Life Dental, CarePlus Dental and DentalBlue will expire on December 31, 2016; and
Whereas, The City desires to extend the current 3-year contracts for one year, through December 31, 2017; and
Whereas, The 3 dental plans compete for City employee-members based on their costs, their network of providers and their benefit design; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Employee Relations is authorized to extend the contracts with Met Life Dental, CarePlus Dental and DentalBlue for one year, through December 31, 2017.
