Analysis
This ordinance establishes the following changes regarding the composition and staffing of the ambulance service board:
1. The city health commissioner and homeland security director may name a designee.
2. The mayor shall make his or her appointment (public member) within 60 days after commencement of a new term or within 60 days after a vacancy in the board occurs, whichever is later.
3. The fire department medical director is identified as a member (the current text states the city EMS director).
4. The designee of the Milwaukee county medical society EMS committee serving on the board is determined by action of the committee.
5. The first 2 hospital systems representatives to serve as members of the board are Wheaton/Franciscan and Columbia/St. Mary’s.
6. The fire department staffs the board.
Body
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Part 1. Section 75-15-2-a-2 of the code is amended to read:

75-15. Ambulance Certification Regulations.
2. AMBULANCE SERVICE BOARD.
a-2. City health commissioner >>or designee<<.

Part 2. Section 75-15-2-a-3 of the code is amended to read:

a-3. Public member appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the common council. >>This member shall serve a term coterminous with that of the mayor. The mayor shall make his or her appointment within 60 days after commencement of a new common council-mayoral term or within 60 days after a vacancy in the board occurs, whichever is later.<<

Part 3. Section 75-15-2-a-4 of the code is amended to read:
