Analysis
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is soliciting applications to utilize funding under the Federal Transportation Alternatives Program. The Department of Public Works is applying for funding for seven projects. Successful grant applications will be funded with an 80 percent grantor share and a 20 percent local share.

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is soliciting project applications for funding in fiscal years 2016-2020 under the Federal Transportation Alternatives Program; and
Whereas, Projects approved for the Federal Transportation Alternatives Program will be funded with an 80 percent grantor share and 20 percent local share; and
Whereas, The Department of Public Works has identified eight projects for infrastructure related improvements; and
Whereas, The Department of Public Works has submitted applications for the following projects:
East and West Washington Street / West Scott Street Bicycle Boulevard Corridor
North Fratney and East Wright Bicycle Boulevards
West Fairmount Bicycle Boulevard (North 68th Street to North Hopkins Street)
Bridge Bicycle Plating - Cherry Street and Water Street Bridges
Riverwalk Pedestrian Crossing Improvements
Bicycle/Trails Transportation Master Plan
South Power Line Corridor Trail - South Clement Avenue to South 27th Street
Public Bike Share System - Phase 3 Expansion.

Whereas, The total estimated cost of these projects is $5,919,082, with a grantor share of $4,735,266 and a local share of $1,183,816; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the City Engineer is authorized to submit applications to the Federal Transportation Alternatives Program for the following projects:
East and West Washington Street / West Scott Street Bicycle Boulevard Corridor
North Fratney and East Wright Bicycle Boulevards
West Fairmount Bicycle Boulevard (North 68th Street to North Hopkins Street)
Bridge Bicycle Plating - Cherry Street and Water Street Bridges
Riverwalk Pedestrian Crossing Improvements

Further Resolved, That any successful grant projects will be brought to the Common Council for approval to enter into Project Agreements.
