Body
Whereas, The claimant, Fredrick Stinson (File No. 1032-2015-3036), through his attorneys, People’s Law Office, has filed a claim for damages against the City of Milwaukee pursuant to 42 U.S.C. § 1983, the Fourth and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution; the Wisconsin State Constitution and other applicable statutes or authority of law for claims alleging unreasonable and unlawful stops, searches, seizures and arrests, and other violations of his constitutional rights and civil rights; and
Whereas, The claimant has agreed to settle his claim in the amount of $15,000; and
Whereas, The City Attorney recommends and the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee deems it expeditious and just to settle this claim; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the City Attorney is authorized to enter into the Settlement Agreement between the City of Milwaukee and the claimant referred to herein, and to execute and approve all documents and talk all actions necessary to carry out the terms and conditions of said agreement; and be it
Further Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that in compliance with the City Attorney’s direction, the proper city officers be and hereby are authorized and directed to issue a check in the amount of $15,000, payable to People’s Law Office Client Trust Account for distribution to Fredrick Stinson, in full and final settlement of said claims, said amount to be charged to the Damages and Claims Fund, Account No. 636505, Fund No. 0001, Organization No. 1490, Program No. 2632, Sub Class No. S118.
