Title:

Resolution authorizing the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a Crisis Intervention Training grant through the Greater Milwaukee Foundation.

 

Analysis:

This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and fund a Crisis Intervention Training grant through the Greater Milwaukee foundation in the amount of $500,000.  The purpose of this grant is to fund the salary and overtime of one police officer, and expenses for research and assessment, presenter fees, professional videos, actors for CIT scenarios and miscellaneous equipment and supplies to assist with the Milwaukee Police Department’s Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) program.

 

Body:

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds for a Crisis Intervention Training grant through the Greater Milwaukee foundation; and

                                          

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 09/15/15 to 09/15/17 would cost $500,000 of which 100% would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department is authorized to accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

 

1.  Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2015 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Projects fund, the following amount for the program titled: Crisis Intervention Training:

2. Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Milwaukee Police Department which is authorized to:

 

1.  Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date.
