Title

Resolution relative to acceptance and funding of a 2015 USDA Forest Service Great Lakes Restoration Initiative grant Tree Canopy Restoration to Mitigate EAB Impact.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works - Operations Division (Forestry Section) to accept and fund a 2015 Great Lakes Restoration Initiative grant from USDA Forest Service in the amount of $127,065 with a city share of $27,065 and a grantor share of $100,000.  The purpose of the project is to plant 600 trees on private property to assist homeowners manage EAB and replace tree canopy.  

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from USDA Forest Service to plant 600 trees on private property to assist homeowners manage EAB and replace tree canopy; and

 

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 10/1/2015 to 9/30/2017 would cost $127,065 of which, $27,065 (22%) would be provided by the city and $100,000 (78%) would be provided by the grantor; now therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Department of Public Works shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

 

1.  Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2015 Special Revenue - Grant and Aid Projects the following amounts for the program/project titled 2015 Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Tree Canopy Restoration to Mitigate EAB Impact:

2.  Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant Levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Department of Public Works-Operations Division, which is authorized to:

 

1.  Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;

 

2.  Enter into subcontracts as detailed in the grant budget.
