Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Chief Information Officer to share fiber and provide network connectivity at the expense of and for the use and benefit of Community Advocates. This will provide Community Advocates, with offices at 728 North James Lovell Street, connectivity to the WiscNet/BOREAS-Net Abilene/Internet2 education community node located at the Department of Administration-ITMD Network Operations Center (ITMD-NOC).

Body
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee wishes to promote services that provide individuals and families with services that meet their basic needs so they may live in dignity in the community; and

Whereas, since 1976, Community Advocates has committed to helping low-income Milwaukeeans meet their most basic needs, including safe and affordable housing, adequate healthcare and reliable heat and other utilities; and

Whereas, Community Advocates provides case management and advocacy services to individuals seeking Social Security Disability benefits and services for individuals and families with domestic violence, substance addiction and mental health issues; and

Whereas, Community Advocates participates in several state and federal grant programs managed by the Community Development Grants Administration, including assistance for homeless individuals and families, housing relocation and stabilization, and domestic violence intervention; and

Whereas, Community Advocates has requested the assistance of the City of Milwaukee in obtaining high-speed network connectivity between its offices at 728 North James Lovell Street and Municipal Court offices and to the Internet through WiscNet at its expense; and
