Title

Resolution authorizing settlement of the lawsuits entitled Kirsten Antonissen v. City of Milwaukee, et al., and Katie Brown v. City of Milwaukee, et al.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes settlement of the lawsuits of Kirsten Antonissen v. City of Milwaukee, et al., Case No. 06-C-1103 and Katie Brown v. City of Milwaukee, et al., Case No. 06-C-1104, for the total amount of $75,000.

Body

Whereas, Plaintiffs Kirsten Antonissen and Katie Brown filed civil rights lawsuits against the City of Milwaukee and certain former and/or current employees thereof; and

 

Whereas, Kirsten Antonissen, Katie Brown, and the City of Milwaukee have entered into a settlement agreement, to settle the above-referenced lawsuits for the total amount of $75,000; and

 

Whereas, The City Attorney recommends and the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee deems it expeditious and just to settle these lawsuits; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officers be and hereby are authorized and directed to issue a City check in the amount of $75,000 payable to the order of Kirsten Antonissen, Katie Brown, and the Client Trust Account for McGranaghan & Stawski, Ltd. in full and final settlement of these lawsuits, said amount to be charged to the Damages and Claims Fund, Account No. 0001-1490-S118-006300; and be it

 

Further Resolved, That for and in consideration of the above-referenced payment, plaintiffs and their attorney will provide to the City a release of any and all claims arising out of or in any way related to this incident and a stipulation and proposed order for dismissal of the pending court actions.
