Resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a Cost Sharing Agreement with Milwaukee County for the planned improvement of East Layton Avenue (CTH Y) from South Howell Avenue to STH 794.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a Cost Sharing Agreement with Milwaukee County for the City of Milwaukee's construction costs for Bio-Swales, sewers and water work associated with the improvement of East Layton Avenue (CTH Y) from South Howell Avenue to STH 794. The total cost of the project is approximately $3,475,000 of which the City of Milwaukee's cost is $188,548.61.
Body
Whereas, Milwaukee County's Department of Public Works, in conjunction with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation has programmed the improvement of East Layton Avenue (CTH Y) from South Howell Avenue to STH 794 in the summer of 2015; and
Whereas, City of Milwaukee sanitary sewer manholes and water service boxes lie within the paving limits and must be adjusted or replaced as part of the roadway project; and
Whereas, Bio-swale construction is proposed as part of the project; and
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has requested, by the City of Milwaukee, and Milwaukee County has agreed to undertake that aforementioned work with their paving contractor in conjunction with their improvement project at City of Milwaukee cost; and
Whereas, Milwaukee County has prepared a Cost Sharing Agreement to address those costs that will be the responsibility of the City of Milwaukee as part of the project; and
Whereas, Construction costs are addressed in Resolution No. 150232; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized to execute a Cost Sharing Agreement with the Milwaukee County for its share of the construction costs associated with the improvement of East Layton Avenue (CTH Y) from South Howell Avenue to STH 794, a copy of which is attached to Common Council File No. 150317 and is incorporated by reference as though set forth in full; and, be it
Further Resolved, That upon receipt of invoices, the City Engineer is hear by authorized to approve and make periodic payments to the Milwaukee County for the City's share or the project costs.
