Title:
Resolution relative to acceptance, and funding of a Speed Enforcement 2015 grant.

Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept a Speed Enforcement grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Division of State Patrol, Bureau of Transportation Safety in the amount of $100,000. The purpose of this grant is to detect and apprehend motor vehicle operators in areas with the largest number of crashes due to excess alcohol use or speed.

Body:
Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA #20.616, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for a Speed Enforcement grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Division of State Patrol, Bureau of Transportation Safety, and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 3/01/15 to 9/30/15 would cost $100,000 of which 100% would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code Ordnances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2015 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: Speed Enforcement 2015 Project Grant:

2. Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Milwaukee Police Department which is authorized to:

Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date.
