Substitute resolution determining it necessary to make various nonassessable public improvements at various locations and appropriating funds for these purposes with the City engineering cost estimated to be $968,000 for a total estimated cost of these projects being $3,495,000.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes engineering studies on projects which by City Charter are nonassessable. After design plans and estimates of costs have been prepared, a resolution authorizing construction will be submitted to the Common Council. The City cost for engineering these projects is estimated to be $968,000 with the total cost estimated to be $3,495,000.
Body
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that it is necessary and in the public interest to do the following described improvements according to City specifications:
3rd and 4th Aldermanic Districts
N. Astor St. - E. State St. to E. Ogden Ave. (SM495120109): Relaying combined sewer. (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $525,000, Additional Funds). The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $775,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2015 construction season.
4th Aldermanic District
E. Clybourn St. - N. Van Buren St. to N. Harbor Dr. (WT410150704): Relaying and extension of water main. (Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 5010 -- $12,000, Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 6410 -- $13,000). The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $300,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2015 construction season.
N. 19th St. - W. Clybourn St. to W. Wisconsin Ave. (WT410150697): Relaying water main. (Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 5010 -- $7,000; Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 6410 -- $8,000). The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $210,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2015 construction season.
4th and 12th Aldermanic Districts
Broadway/Young St. Bascule Bridge (101 North) over the Milwaukee River (BR100140110): Painting and miscellaneous repairs of moveable bridge. (City Share Non-assessable Structure Fund -- $400,000, Additional Funds) (File Number 141400). The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $2,160,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2015 construction season.
11th Aldermanic District
S. 60th St. at W. Kinnickinnic River Pkwy. (WT410150705): Restoration. (Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 5010 -- $7,000, Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 6410 -- $8,000). The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $50,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2015 construction season.

Further Resolved, That all City Departments are authorized to perform engineering, surveys, plan preparation, and determine an estimated cost thereof; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Department of Public Works is authorized to use the funding as specified in the above description of work; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to transfer such funds which are available for this purpose to the appropriate capital Project/Grant accounts.
