Title:
Resolution authorizing the Milwaukee Police Department to accept and expend a donation of $2,500 from Walmart Stores, Inc.
 
Analysis:      
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept a donation of $2,500 from Walmart Stores, Inc. to purchase steering wheel anti-theft devices.  These devices will be provided to vehicle owners within Police District 5 whom do not have the financial means to purchase such devices.  
 
Body:
Whereas, Section 304-24 of the City of Milwaukee Code of Ordinances regulates the receipt, appropriation and expenditure of contributions received by the City, and
 
Whereas, Walmart Stores, Inc. has offered to provide $2,500 to the Milwaukee Police Department for the purchase of steering wheel anti-theft devices for residents of Police District 5 whom do not have the financial means to purchase such devices; now therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City of Milwaukee Police Department is authorized to accept and expend $2,500 from Walmart Stores, Inc. for the purchase of steering wheel anti-theft devices; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That upon receipt and deposit of these funds, the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to establish a special account within the budget for the expenditure of the contribution; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to transfer appropriations and estimated revenue from the Contribution Fund-General, account number 0001-2110-D001-006300, and the Estimated Revenue account for contributions, account number 0001-2110-0001-009850 to the Police Department's Special Account 0001-3310-0001-DXXX-006300, and the Police Department's Estimated Revenue account 0001-3310-0001-009850 for the purposes set forth in this resolution in the amount of $2,500.
