Title
Resolution relating to periodic Police Department reports and trends concerning reportable criminal offenses in the city.
Analysis
Currently, the Police Department provides quarterly reports to all Common Council members concerning major reportable crimes and trends both citywide and by individual aldermanic districts. This resolution changes the reporting period from quarterly to semi-annually.
Body
Whereas, On July 12, 2006, the Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 060225, relating to continuation of periodic Police Department reports and trends concerning major reportable criminal offenses in the city of Milwaukee; and
Whereas, Resolution File Number 060225 requires that the Police Department provide to each Common Council member a quarterly report which includes major reportable crimes and trends in the respective aldermanic districts and the city as a whole; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that Common Council Resolution File Number 060255, adopted on July 12, 2006, is amended by:
1. Deleting the 6th "Whereas" clause and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
"Whereas, The Police Department shall provide to each Common Council member a semi-annual report which includes major reportable crimes and all trends in the respective aldermanic districts and the city as whole, with this report submitted in a format congruent with the Police Department reporting capabilities; and, be it"
2. Deleting the 3 "Further Resolved" clauses and inserting in lieu thereof the following:
"Further Resolved, That in lieu thereof, the Police Department shall provide to each Common Council member a semi-annual report which includes major reportable crimes and trends in the respective aldermanic districts and the city as a whole, with this report submitted in a format congruent with the Police Department reporting capabilities; and, be it
Further Resolved, That these semi-annual reports shall be submitted to the members of the Common Council within 2 months of the close of the respective semi-annual period; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Chief of Police, or a representative of the Chief, shall appear before the appropriate Council committee to review and discuss the findings and the trends contained in the semi-annual report."
