Substitute resolution authorizing the Department of Employee Relations to extend a contract for one year through December 31, 2009 with UnitedHealthcare.

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has received an offer to extend the current contract with UnitedHealthcare (UHC) in 2009 to provide health maintenance services; and

Whereas, UHC has made a favorable offer to the City in terms of cost, network and services for 2009; and

Whereas, The City Review Team and the City consultant, Willis of Wisconsin, have reviewed this offer and support the recommendation; and

Whereas, The UHC cost in 2009 will be lower then the 2008 cost of other insurance companies; and

Whereas, The UHC network of providers has a larger network then other insurance companies; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Employee Relations is authorized to enter into a contract extension, or amendment to agreement, with UHC to provide insured health maintenance medical services in 2009.
