Title
Resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a Revised Project Agreement between the City of Milwaukee and Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the improvement of South 2nd Street from West National Avenue to the Menomonee River to include additional project identification numbers which address “quiet zone” improvements to the Canadian Pacific Railroad crossing located north of the river.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a Revised Project Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) for the improvement of South 2nd Street from West National Avenue to the Menomonee River to include additional project identification numbers which address “quiet zone” improvements to the Canadian Pacific Railroad crossing located north of the river. The Revised Project Agreement provides for 80 percent Federal/State aid and 20 percent local cost sharing for construction of the crossing surface and 100 percent local cost for installation of a new “quiet zone” gate system. These additional construction costs amount to $400,000, with a City share of $320,000 and a grantor share of $80,000.

Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee adopted Resolution File Number 010810, adopted on November 6, 2001, authorized and directed the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a project agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) for the programming and construction of South 2nd Street between West National Avenue and the Menomonee River with Federal and/or State aid under the Surface Transportation Program; and
Whereas, The original project agreement did not include identification numbers and the associated costs to address “quiet zone” improvements to the Canadian Pacific Railroad crossing located north of the river; and
