This resolution appropriates up to $10,000 from the Economic Development Committee Fund Special Purpose Account to fund the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin Advanced Manufacturing Partnership for the Hispanic Training Initiative.
Body
Whereas, The Economic Development Committee Fund is to be used to promote the City’s economic development programs and attracting new industry to the City; and
Whereas, The mission of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Wisconsin (HCCW) is advocacy and promotion of business development of Hispanic and other small businesses through education, advocacy and networking; and
Whereas, The Advanced Manufacturing Partnership for the Hispanic Training Initiative is a collaboration between the HCCW, manufacturers, technical colleges, workforce development boards, and other community leaders throughout the state working to solve the skilled labor shortage through essential skills training and technical skills development with related support system programming; and
Whereas, Advanced Manufacturing Partnership employers receive priority access to graduates for placement upon successful completion of this skills development program; and
Whereas, Individuals who complete technical degree programs in areas such as welding gain greater income resulting in greater earnings potential; and
Whereas, The City and its residents will benefit from the enhanced economic impact due to greater levels of income that can be achieved by participants resulting in greater income, sales and property tax revenue generated at state and local levels; and
