Substitute resolution relative to the acceptance and funding of the Healthcare-Associated Infection Awareness (HAI) Grant from the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO).

Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to accept and fund the Healthcare-Associated Infection Awareness (HAI) Grant from the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) in the amount of $10,000. The purpose of the Healthcare-Associated Infection Awareness (HAI) Grant is to increase awareness of HAI’s in long-term care facilities, hospitals, emergency response services, laboratories, and local health departments and develop capacity to detect and control HAI’s in healthcare facilities.

BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) to increase awareness of Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI); and

Whereas, The operation of this grant program from 12/01/13 to 06/30/14 would cost $10,000 entirely provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant parent account of the 2014 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled Healthcare-Associated Infection Awareness (HAI) Grant:
