This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to shut down and cover an unwarranted traffic control signal and to install a temporary two-way stop control at the intersection of the eastbound IH 94 exit ramp and North 13th Street north of West Saint Paul Avenue in the 4th Aldermanic District.
Body
Whereas, The traffic control signal at the intersection of the eastbound IH 94 exit ramp and North 13th Street north of West Saint Paul Avenue is no longer warranted; and
Whereas, The eastbound exit ramp from IH 94 to North 13th Street is under the jurisdiction of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, and approval will be necessary from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the change in traffic control prior to implementation; and
Whereas, The continued operation of the traffic control signal results in a waste of electrical energy, fuel, and maintenance personnel hours, and causes unnecessary delay for drivers and pedestrians; and
Whereas, The installation of a temporary two-way stop control is recommended at the intersection following the shut down and covering of the traffic control signal; and
Whereas, An evaluation will be performed following the shut down and covering of the traffic control signal at the eastbound IH 94 exit ramp and North 13th Street north of West Saint Paul Avenue to determine if the traffic control signal should be permanently removed; and
Whereas, Further approval from the Common Council will be requested prior to permanent removal of the traffic control signal at the intersection if the trial shutdown is successful; now, ther...
