Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to install and enter into a funding agreement with 544 South 1st Street, LLC for a traffic signal at the intersection of West Virginia Street and South 1st Street in the 12th Aldermanic District at a total estimated cost of $79,000, with one hundred percent of the total cost funded by 544 South 1st Street, LLC. This resolution also authorizes the Comptroller to establish and transfer funds to the appropriate accounts for the project. Whereas, 544 South 1st Street, LLC, a development company, plans to develop a facility on the southeast corner of the intersection of West Virginia Street and South 1st Street that is anticipated to generate transit trips to and from the facility by persons with disabilities; and

Whereas, Vehicular gaps in traffic on South 1st Street are not adequate for persons with disabilities to cross to and from bus stops safely; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee recognizes that a traffic signal is the only way to provide safe access for disabled persons to the site without compromising pedestrian and vehicular operation and safety; and

Whereas, The traffic signal is warranted for no other reason and therefore would be a private interest signal, funded completely by the private interest benefiting from its placement; and
