Title:
Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a Speed and Aggressive Driving Enforcement 2008 grant.

Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept, and fund a Speed and Aggressive Driving Enforcement grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety in the amount of $25,000, with a city share of $0 and a grantor share of $25,000. The purpose of this grant is to detect and apprehend motor vehicle operators under the influence of an intoxicant or controlled substance.

Body:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for a Speed and Aggressive Driving Enforcement grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety, and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 10/01/07 to 09/30/08 would cost $25,000, of which $0 would be provided by the city and $25,000 (100%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is authorized and the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council file 030712; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2008 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: Speed and Aggressive Driving Enforcement 2008 Project Grant
