The question was put: Have the members of the Common Council read the Report and Recommendation of the Licenses Committee and the exceptions filed in this matter? All members indicated that they had done so. The question was put: Is Mr. Montal Hinton or his attorney present and, if so, does either wish to address the Common Council? Mr. Hinton was present by counsel Andrew Arena. Ald. Witkowiak moved that the Common Council resolve itself into a committee of the whole for the purpose of taking testimony in this matter. There was no objection. Attorney Andrew Arena appeared and addressed the council on behalf of Mr. Hinton. Asst. City Attorney Bruce Schrimpf appeared and addressed the council. Alderman Witkowiak moved that the committee rise. There was no objection.

Whereas, Five citizens filed notarized complaints requesting the revocation of the Class “B” Tavern license of Montal Hinton for “Montal’s Lounge” at 2525 N. Holton St. based upon shootings, loitering, noise, public urination, litter, blocking of the public street and sidewalk, and verbal abuse of the neighbors by bar patrons ; and

 

Whereas, The licensee was served with a copy of the complaints and the police report on January 14, 2008; and

 

Whereas, The Licenses Committee held an evidentiary hearing on January 22, 2008; and

 

Whereas, Based on testimony provided at this hearing by 2 of the original 5 complainants and other parties, the Committee voted to revoke the license of Montal Hinton for “Montal’s Lounge” at 2525 N. Holton St. by a vote of 3 ayes, one abstain and one excused; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Class "B" Tavern license of Montal Hinton for the premises at 2525 N. Holton St. ("Montal’s Lounge") is revoked.
