Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept and fund the Private Healthcare Provider Education and Awareness on Antiviral Medication Use During Pandemic Influenza from the National Assoc. of City and County Health Officials (NACCHO) in the amount of $84,557. The purpose of the project is to allow the Milwaukee Health Department to conduct a survey of local physicians on their knowledge of antiviral distribution and dispensing and increase the education to those healthcare providers on how to appropriately and effectively dispense antiviral medications during seasonal and possible pandemic influenza outbreaks.

Body:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the National Assoc. of City and County Health Officials (NACCHO) to implement this survey and increase education on dispensing antiviral medications; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 2/01/08 to 6/30/08 would cost $84,557 entirely provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the National Assoc. of City and County Health Officials (NACCHO) is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Section 304-81, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
