Analysis
This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of Public Works to execute the Project Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) for the programming of the Twenty-First Street Elementary School Improvements Project. The entire project will be funded 100 percent by Federal and/or State participation. The preliminary engineering costs will be $10,000 of which the City share is zero. The total project cost is $90,500 of which the City share is zero.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has actively promoted the expansion of bicycle and pedestrian facilities; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee applied for grant funding under the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program for a project known as Twenty-First Street Elementary School Improvements; and

Whereas, SRTS Funds will fund 100 percent of the project, up to $90,500; and

Whereas, Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) has submitted a Project Agreement to be executed by the City of Milwaukee for the programming of the project and to begin engineering; and

Whereas, The project consists of constructing curb bump outs at crosswalks, installing high visibility crosswalk pavement marking and signage, relocating bus stops and install traffic signals at the intersection of West Center Street and North 22nd Street; and

Whereas, The construction phase will be included in a future resolution; and

Whereas, The State cannot proceed with any project cost overruns and/or changes in scope of more than 5% without prior Department of Publi...
