Analysis
This resolution will authorize the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a document titled Federal/State/Project Sponsor High Priority Projects Program Local Let Project Agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the programming and construction of a project known as the Marsupial Bridge Improvements, with a total cost of $800,000, grantor share of $640,000 and City share of $160,000 (100 percent Department of City Development). All preliminary engineering costs are 100 percent Department of City Development.

Whereas, The Marsupial Bridge Project was constructed with grant funding in 2004 and 2005 which provided a suspended bicycle/pedestrian bridge under the Holton Street Viaduct connecting the Beer Line B neighborhood with the Brady Street neighborhood; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works (DPW) has applied for grant funding under the High Priority Grant (HPP) program to perform improvements to the Marsupial Bridge Project including enhancements to the approaches as well as providing a mid-span connection; and

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) has approved the application and submitted a Project Agreement for the programming and construction of the Marsupial Bridge Improvements with grant funding under the HPP Program; and

Whereas, The State cannot proceed with any project cost overruns and/or changes in scope of more than 5% without prior Department of Public Works approval; and
