Title
Resolution approving the Land Disposition Report for the City-owned vacant lots at 2201 and 2205 North 29th Street for sale to The Dr. Howard L. Fuller Education Foundation, Inc., in the 15th Aldermanic District.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the sale of City-owned Neighborhood Property according to the conditions in the Land Disposition Report pursuant to Section 304-49-7, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances.
Body
Whereas, The Dr. Howard L. Fuller Education Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization, has offered to purchase for one dollar each the City-owned vacant lots at 2201 and 2205 North 29th Street and desires to construct two single-family homes that will be sold to owner-occupants upon completion; and

Whereas, Section 304-49-7 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances allows the City of Milwaukee (“City”) to accept unsolicited offers to buy property when the City receives fair compensation, whether monetary or non-monetary; and

Whereas, Sale of these lots will allow The Dr. Howard L. Fuller Education Foundation, Inc., to teach young neighborhood residents home building skills as well as provide new homeownership opportunities as summarized in the Land Disposition Report, a copy of which is attached to this Common Council File; and

Whereas, The Department of City Development (“DCD”) recommends sale of these lots with closing contingent on DCD approval of final site and building plans and evidence of financing; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of DCD, or designee, is authorized to accept the offer to purchase submitted by The Dr. Howard L. Fuller Education Foundation, Inc., for the City-owned vacant lots at 2201 and 2205 North 29th Street for purchase and development as outlined in the Land Disposition Report; and, be it
