This resolution appropriates $10,000 from the Economic Development Committee Fund special purposes account to the Prince Hall Masonic Grand Lodge and Foundation to partially offset the costs of the development of the Prince Hall Campus Project located at 6th and Walnut Streets.
Body
Whereas, The Economic Development Committee Fund is to be used to promote the City’s economic development programs and attract new industry to the City; and

Whereas, The Prince Hall Masons, founded in 1784, are one of the oldest African American organizations in the country that opened its Milwaukee Grand Lodge in 1925 and developed its own independent foundation in 1984; and

Whereas, The Prince Hall Masonic Grand Lodge and Foundation will be developing a project known as the Prince Hall Campus Project that consists of a planned community living arrangement in a campus-like atmosphere, skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities, a community-based residential project and both assisted and independent living facilities; and

Whereas, The Prince Hall Campus Project will be developing a state-of-the-art, model skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility that will be serving Milwaukee’s central city; developing senior housing to help seniors maintain their pride, dignity and independence; developing safe, affordable, appropriate housing and services for other populations as well; and whose plan includes retail and commercial space that also includes a grocery store; and
