Title:
Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a Traffic and Criminal Software Grant.

Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept, and fund a TraCS Project Grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety in the amount of $100,000, with a city share of $0 and a grantor share of $100,000. The purpose of this grant is to get real time accident data, reduce the time officers spend filing accident reports and to place these reports into the Tiburon RMS system.

Body:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety for a Traffic and Criminal Software (TraCS) Project Grant, and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 02/21/07 to 09/30/07 would cost $100,000, of which $100,000 (100%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation is authorized and the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council file 030712; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2007 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: TraCS Project Grant
