Title:
Resolution authorizing acceptance and funding of the 2007 High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area project awards.

Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to continue its participation in a High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) project. This funding comes in the form of five separate grant awards, relating to the five task forces on which Police personnel participate.

Body:
Whereas, The Common Council in file 051585 approved funding for federal fiscal year 2006 for Police Department participation in the Milwaukee HIDTA project; and

Whereas, The Milwaukee Police Department’s participation in the HIDTA project for the period of January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2007 would cost $1,775,432 of which $923,016 (52%) would be provided by the grantor and $852,416 (48%) would be provided by the City; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application for HIDTA is authorized and the Milwaukee Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 030712 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Comptroller of the City of Milwaukee is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2007 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the HIDTA project:
