Bauman moved to amend by adding the following further resolved clause: "Further Resolved, The Commissioner of Public Works may for the public’s safety direct the island curb’s reinstallation, with all costs associated with the reinstallation to be paid for by the hotel’s owners and operator." Title
A substitute resolution relating to the removal of an island curb at 139 East Kilbourn Avenue.

Analysis
In order to construct a drop-off lane for the hotel located at 139 East Kilbourn Avenue, the City of Milwaukee required the construction of an island curb.
This resolution directs the Commissioner of Public Works to approve the request of the owners of the hotel located at 139 East Kilbourn Avenue to remove the island curb. The resolution also requires that all costs associated with the removal of the island shall be paid by the hotel’s owners and operator, Marcus Hotels and Resorts.

Body
Whereas, In order to construct a drop-off lane for the hotel located at 139 East Kilbourn Avenue, the City of Milwaukee required the construction of an island curb; and

Whereas, The current owners and operators (Marcus Hotels and Resorts) of the hotel located at 139 East Kilbourn Avenue have found that the island curb results in delays for hotel guests wanting to make brief stops by causing their vehicles to be boxed in by stopped vehicles in front of or behind their vehicles; and

Whereas, The removal of the island curb would allow guests of the hotel and taxis to freely pull into the drop-off lane ahead of or behind any stopped vehicle; and

Whereas, The island curb does not benefit the operation of the hotel; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that Commissioner of Public Works is directed to approve the request of the owners of the hotel located at 139 East Kilbourn Avenue to remove the island curb; and, be it

Further Resolved, That all costs associated with the removal of the island curb located in front of the hotel at 139 East Kilbourn Avenue shall be paid by the hotel’s owners and operator, Marcus Hotels and Resorts; and, be it
