Title

Resolution authorizing the Port of Milwaukee to apply for a 2007 Port Security Grant.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Port of Milwaukee to apply for a 2007 Port Security Grant from the United States Department of Homeland Security.  This is a new round of the grant program for 2007.  Acceptance and expenditure of this grant will require approval of a separate resolution.

 

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee/Port of Milwaukee is eligible for grant funds from the United States Department of Homeland Security 2007 Port Security Grant Program; and

 

Whereas, The Port of Milwaukee, the Police Department, and the Fire Department in working together have identified grant eligible items that will strengthen the security of critical infrastructure in the waterfront area; and

 

Whereas, The total project cost of these items is $840,000.  Approximately 75% of the project cost would come from the grantor and 25% from the City; and

 

Whereas, It is appropriate for the Port of Milwaukee to apply for such grant funds; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Port of Milwaukee is authorized to apply for a 2007 Port Security Grant with a total project cost of up to $840,000.
