Resolution authorizing acceptance and funding of an ATF/Violent Crimes Impact Team grant.
Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to accept an ATF/Violent Crimes Impact Team (VCIT) grant from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives in an amount of $28,000 with a city share of $-0- and a grantor share of $28,000. The purpose of this grant is to fund overtime expenses for long-term investigations into violent criminals who are associated with street gangs or well organized crime units.
Body:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for ATF/Violent Crimes Impact Team grant funds from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 10/01/06 to 9/30/07 would cost $28,000, of which 100% would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department is authorized to accept the grant without further approval unless its terms change as indicated in Common Council File 030712; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2006 Special Revenue-Grant
and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled: ATF/Milwaukee Firearms Trafficking Task Force:
