Resolution authorizing application, acceptance and funding of a Speed and Aggressive Driving Enforcement 2007 grant.

Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept and fund a Speed and Aggressive Driving Enforcement grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety in the amount of $31,249 with a city share of $6,250 and a grantor share of $24,999. The purpose of this grant is to detect and apprehend operators under the influence of an intoxicant or controlled substance.

Body:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for a Speed and Aggressive Driving Enforcement grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 01/01/07 to 9/30/07 would cost $31,249, of which, $24,999 (80%) would be provided by the grantor and $6,250 (20%) would be provided by the city; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department is authorized to accept this grant without further approval unless its terms change as indicated in Common Council File 030712; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2007 Special Revenue-Grant
and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled: Speed and Aggressive Driving Enforcement 2007:
