Title

Resolution approving an amendment to and an extension of a lease agreement with the United States of America Army Corps of Engineers.

Analysis

This resolution would approve lease agreement with the United States Army for certain real

property located at 2372 S. Logan Avenue.

BODY

Whereas, The United States Army has been a long term tenant in good standing with the Port of Milwaukee and has an existing lease dated March 9, 2001; and

Whereas, The existing lease will expire on September 30, 2006 and both parties to the lease have agreed to a new one-year term lease under the same terms and conditions with an escalated rental increase; and

Whereas, The City is committing to a one-year agreement as it completes an analysis of possible alternate uses for the property; and

Whereas, The Board of Harbor Commissioners at their meeting of August 4, 2006 acted by vote of the Board to grant such lease; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that said Common Council hereby ratifies and approves the lease agreement between the United States Army and the City of Milwaukee, by and through its Board of Harbor Commissioners for the period of October 1, 2006 through September 30, 2007; and, be it 

Further Resolved, That the designated officers of said government and of said Board of Harbor Commissioners are hereby authorized and directed to execute an agreement to carry out this purpose.
