Title

A substitute resolution accepting a reservation and declaring certain property open for public street purposes, to be used for opening East Erie Street from a point south of vacated East Pier Street extended south to the Milwaukee River, in the 4th Aldermanic District.

Analysis

This resolution will accept a reservation for public right-of-way purposes, thereby opening this segment of East Erie Street from a point south of vacated East Pier Street extended south to the Milwaukee River for public street purposes.

Body

Whereas, A reservation for public street purposes was created and placed on City owned land by Certified Survey Map No. 7370, recorded on February 10, 2004 as Document Number 8729204; and

 

Whereas, The pavement on this southerly extension of East Erie Street was constructed in 2006; and

 

Whereas, The adoption of Common Council File Number 060167 on July 12, 2006 approved the construction of the Erie Street Plaza located on the westerly side of the East Erie Street extension; and

 

Whereas, Accepting the reservation and opening it for public street purposes would extend East Erie Street and allow access to the condominiums, businesses and proposed plaza located along the East Erie Street extension; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the following described parcel of land, which has been reserved for public street purposes, hereby is declared open for such purposes:

 

That part of Lot 4 of Certified Map No. 7370 in the Northwest ¼ of Section 33, Township 7 North, Range 22 East, described as follows:  Commencing at the southerly most corner of Lot 3 of said Certified Survey Map; thence North 34 deg. 16 min. 47 sec. East along the westerly line of Lot 4 aforesaid, 110.56 feet to a point; thence North 33 deg. 19 min. 02 sec. West, continuing along said westerly line, 160.18 feet to a point in the present southerly line of East Erie Street; thence North 77 deg. 23 min. 26 sec. East, along said southerly line, 70.16 feet to a point; thence South 33 deg. 16 min. 36 sec. East 333.64 feet to a point in the north dock line of the Harbor Entrance; thence South 85 deg. 50 min. 33 sec. West, along said dock line, 49.79 feet to a point; thence North 36 deg. 36 min. 03 sec. West, along said dock line, 5.21 feet to a point in the dock line of the left bank of the Milwaukee River, established per Ordinance 754, Common Council File Number 63-3847-a, adopted March 17, 1964; thence South 85 deg. 48 min. 29 sec. West, along said established dock line, 111.33 feet to a point; thence North 67 deg. 20 min. 57 sec. West, along said established dock line, 47.50 feet to a point; thence North 33 deg. 18 min. 29 sec. West, along said established dock line, 33.12 feet to the point of commencement; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Engineer is hereby directed to have a certified copy of this resolution recorded in the office of the Register of Deeds of Milwaukee County.
