Analysis
This resolution authorizes the honorary name change of North 4th Street, from West Melvina Street to West Capitol Place, as “Antoine L.Taylor.”
Body
Whereas, Antoine L. Taylor was tragically killed on the 3600 block of North 3rd Street, June 13, 2006, while breaking up a neighborhood disturbance; and

Whereas, Antoine L. Taylor was active in the community helping neighborhood residents whenever possible; and

Whereas, Antoine L. Taylor pursued educational goals including attendance at Zablocki Elementary, Audubon Middle School and Juneau Business High School; and

Whereas, Section 113-3 of the Code of Ordinances provides for a procedure for the assignment of honorary street names; and

Whereas, Section 113-3-6 specifies criteria for the use of the names of individuals as honorary street names; and

Whereas, The Common Council finds that the honorary naming of North 4th Street, from West Melvina Street to West Capitol Place, as “Antoine L. Taylor” would for the reasons specified above meet the criteria of s. 113-3-6; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the honorary name “Antoine L. Taylor” is assigned to the segment of North 4th Street, from West Melvina Street to West Capitol Place; and, be it

Further Resolved, That this honorary street naming shall comply with design specifications determined by the Department of Public Works; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the petitioner has requested that the Department of Public Works fabricate and install one honorary street name sign in conjunction with this honorary naming at a total cost of $100, which shall be paid by the petitioner; and, be it
