Title

Resolution authorizing the Department of Administration to negotiate agreements with companies desiring to construct a citywide wireless network.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Department of Administration to negotiate agreements with companies desiring to construct a citywide wireless network infrastructure.  The negotiated agreements shall be submitted to the Common Council for approval prior to execution.

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee has facilities that companies desiring to construct a citywide wireless network wish to use and/or occupy; and

 

Whereas, There would be no direct cost to the City for building the network; and

 

Whereas, A citywide wireless network would bring many economic benefits to Milwaukee; and

 

Whereas, The proposed network would be open for all interested companies to use; and

 

Whereas, These agreements would be non-exclusive, and all interested companies could propose to build similar networks; and

 

Whereas, The City could receive revenue and/or wireless services at no direct cost as part of the agreement; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Administration is authorized to negotiate agreements with companies desiring to construct a citywide wireless network infrastructure, and submit the negotiated agreements to the Common Council for approval.
