Analysis
This resolution terminates existing sister city relationships with Ticuantepe, Nicaragua; Mulhouse, France; and Omsk, Siberia; and as they no longer meet the guidelines established by Sister City International.
Body
Whereas, The Common Council created the Sister Cities Committee to assist in the establishment and maintenance of sister city relationships pursuant to Sister Cities International guidelines, and the committee reviews requests for new relationships, investigates and makes recommendations to the Common Council concerning the establishment of new relationships and maintenance or termination of existing sister city relationships; and
Whereas, The Sister Cities Committee has reviewed current sister city relationships and recommends that certain sister city relationships be terminated due to lack of information on activities, reports, and documentation as required to meet the goals and guidelines set by Sister City International; and
Whereas, These relationships are no longer active, do not have local community support that fosters opportunities for reciprocal cultural, educational, municipal, business, professional or humanitarian exchanges and projects, and are recommended for termination by the Sister Cities Committee; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that Resolution File Number 870376, adopted on 9/15/87; Resolution File Number 880499, adopted on 6/22/88; Resolution File Number 920639, adopted on 7/28/92; are rescinded, thereby terminating sister city relationships with Ticuantepe, Nicaragua; Mulhouse, France; and Omsk, Siberia.
