Analysis

Resolution authorizing a one-year contract for health maintenance organization services for 2007 and contract extensions for one year dental services for 2007.

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee Department of Employee Relations with Willis of Wisconsin, Inc. solicited responses a requests for proposal (RFP) for health maintenance organization (HMO) services for 2007 and extensions of contracts with the four dental provides; and

 

Whereas, A six-person team from the City of Milwaukee, including representatives from the Department of Employee Relations, City Clerk-Legislative Reference Bureau, Department of Administration-Budget and Management Analysis Division and Comptroller’s Office reviewed the responses and associated costs from the three vendors who responded to the RFP for HMO services in 2007; and

 

Whereas, The team and Department of Employee Relations (DER) are now making a recommendation that DER be authorized to enter into a one-year contract with Humana for HMO services in 2007; and

 

Whereas, The DER is recommending an extension of the dental contracts with CarePlus, DentalBlue, First Commonwealth and Delta Dental; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that DER is authorized to enter into a contract with the Humana, Inc. for their High Performance Network HMO and their Premier Network HMO for HMO services for city employees and retires in 2007; and, be it

 

Further resolved, That DER is authorized to extend contracts with CarePlus, DentalBlue, First Commonwealth and Delta Dental for 2007.
