Resolution authorizing and directing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute document titled “Revised State/Municipal Agreement for a Highway Improvement Project” with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the programming and construction of West Edgerton Avenue from South 20^th Street to South 13^th Street with Federal and/or State aid under the Surface Transportation Program.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a revised project agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT) for programming and construction of West Edgerton Avenue from South 20^th Street to South 13^th Street with 80 percent Federal and/or State aid under the Surface Transportation Program.  The revised agreement changed West Edgerton Avenue from a resurface to a reconstruct project.  The total estimated cost for the project also changed from $771,430 to $1,150,340 of which the City’s share is $230,068.

Body

Whereas, A project agreement was executed by the WISDOT and the City of Milwaukee for the preliminary engineering work for the improvement of West Edgerton Avenue from South 20^th Street to South 13^th Street in accordance with Common Council Resolution File Number 040400, adopted on August 16, 2004; and

Whereas, Preliminary engineering activities have begun; and

Whereas, The total estimated construction cost for the project changed from $771,430 to $1,150,340 of which the City’s share is $230,068; and

Whereas, A revised project agreement changing West Edgerton Avenue project from a resurface to a reconstruct project has been received from the WISDOT to be executed by the City of Milwaukee; and

Whereas, This project is scheduled for construction in spring 2007 and be completed by November of 2007; and

Whereas, Estimated costs of all phases of this project are as indicated in the revised project agreement; and

Whereas, Funds for the construction phase of the project will be included in future resolutions; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to execute the revised project agreement for the programming and construction of West Edgerton Avenue from South 20^th Street to South 13^th Street with Federal and/or State aid under the Surface Transportation Program, a copy of which is attached to Common Council Resolution File Number 060172, and is incorporated in this resolution by reference as though set forth in full.
