TITLE

ANALYSIS
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a Landscape Maintenance Agreement between the City and Michael Mervis and Mary Ellen McCormack-Mervis. The agreement pertains to the City-owned triangle of property located at the northeast corner of North Water Street and East Brady Street. Under the terms of the agreement, the Mervises would install and maintain landscaping beds in the triangle. The City would continue to maintain the sidewalks in and around the triangle as well as maintain the remaining grass areas. In addition, the City would install an irrigation system in the triangle to provide water for the new landscape beds.
BODY
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee owns the approximately ¼ acre vacant parcel at the northeast corner of North Water and East Brady Streets; and

Whereas, The Department of Public Works has historically maintained this grass covered parcel; and

Whereas, Local residents Michael Mervis and Mary Ellen McCormack-Mervis have expressed interest in beautifying the triangle through the creation of several landscaping beds; and

Whereas, The Mervises have also expressed a willingness to be responsible for maintenance of the new landscaping beds if the City provides an irrigation source; and

Whereas, A Landscape Maintenance Agreement between the Mervises and the City has been drafted and is attached to this file; and

Whereas, Beautification of the parcel will provide a significant visual amenity for the neighborhood and the broader community; now, therefore, be it
