Title

Resolution authorizing the Milwaukee Police Department to donate a 1974 bomb containment vessel (MPD vehicle No. 283) to the Republic of Nicaragua.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to donate a surplus containment vessel to the Republic of Nicaragua.

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee owns a 1974 bomb transporter, which is used to safely transport explosive materials; and

 

Whereas, The Wisconsin National Guard has agreed to transport this vessel to Nicaragua; and

 

Whereas, Nicaraguan representatives have stated that this vessel would be used for improving their counter-terrorism capabilities; and

 

Whereas, The City has purchased a new containment vessel; and

 

Whereas, A contingent from Nicaragua will be training at Fort McCoy on June 5 to June 9, 2006; and

 

Whereas, The Milwaukee Police Department has asked that it be allowed to donate this vehicle to the Republic of Nicaragua; now, therefore be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City of Milwaukee Police Department be and hereby is authorized to donate a 1974 containment vessel, Milwaukee Police Department Vehicle No. 283, Serial No. 568, to the Republic of Nicaragua.
