Analysis
This resolution authorizes the sale of vacant lots for construction of single-family homes pursuant to Section 304-49-17, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances.
Body
Whereas, The Milwaukee Christian Center, Inc. (“MCC”), a nonprofit organization, has offered to purchase the City-owned vacant lots at 2324 South 16th Street, 2328 South 16th Street and 725 South 21st Street for $500 each to construct three single-family homes; and

Whereas, Section 304-49-17 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances allows the City of Milwaukee (“City”) to accept unsolicited offers to purchase when the City receives fair compensation, whether monetary or non-monetary; and

Whereas, Sale of these lots will allow MCC to provide new affordable homeownership opportunities as summarized in a Land Disposition Report, a copy of which is attached to this Common Council File; and

Whereas, The Department of City Development (“DCD”) recommends sale of these lots with closing contingent on DCD approval of final site and building plans and evidence of financing; and

Whereas, These lots will be sold in “as is” condition without representations or warranties including but not limited to soil quality and subsurface condition; and

Whereas, The City Plan Commission has determined that these lots are surplus to municipal needs; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the vacant lots at 2324 South 16th Street, 2328 South 16th Street and 725 South 21st Street are declared surplus to municipal needs and that the Offer to Purchase from MCC is accepted; and, be it
