Minutes note: The court reporter was sworn in. The question was put: Have the members of the Common Council read the Report and Recommendations of the Licenses Committee, and any written exceptions, if filed, in this matter? All members indicated that they had done so, Ald. Davis EXCUSED. The question was put: Are the following applicants or their Counsel present and wish to address the Council?: Brent Rock was present. Ala Mahmoud was present. Mandeep Dhawan was present. Ald. Witkowiak moved that the Common Council enter the Committee of the Whole for the purpose of hearing from these applicants. There was no objection. Attorney Andrew Arena appeared on behalf of Mr. Brent Rock. Assistant City Attorney Bruce Schrimpf appeared on behalf of the City of Milwaukee. Attorney Munjad Ahmad appeared on behalf of Mr. Ala Mahmoud. Assistant City Attorney Bruce Schrimpf appeared on behalf of the City of Milwaukee. Attorney David Bangert appeared on behalf of Mr. Mandeep Dhawan. Assistant City Attorney Bruce Schrimpf appeared on behalf of the City of Milwaukee. Ald. Bohl moved that the committee rise. There was no objection. The question was put: Are there any other motions relative to the following matters? Brent Rock Ald. Bohl moved that Mr. Rock be issued a warning letter instead of the 10-day suspension. On the motion: FAIL: Alds. Bauman, Bohl, Donovan, Puente, Murphy, Witkowiak, Witkowski, Zielinski, Hines AYE; Ald. Davis EXCUSED. (3/4 vote required - reversed committee decision) Ala Mahmoud Ald. Hines yielded the chair to Ald. Witkowiak. Ald. Hines moved to amend the 45-day suspension recommended for Mr. Mahmoud to a 20-day suspension. On the motion: PASS. Alds.
