Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a Public Access Computer Hardware Upgrade Program Grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Public Library to apply for, accept and fund a Grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in the amount of $141,104 with a city share of $9,104 and a grantor share of $132,000. The purpose of the project is to provide sustainable public access computer hardware and software.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for the purpose of providing sustainable public access computer hardware and software; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant from 03/31/06 to 12/31/08 would cost $141,104 of which $9,104 (6%) would be provided by the city and $132,000 (94%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Milwaukee Public Library shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 030712 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2006 Special Revenue - - Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled “Public Access Computer Hardware Upgrade Program Grant:”

2. Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund - Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project Level values; budget to these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for Milwaukee Public Library which is authorized to:
1. Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;
2. Expend from the 2006 grant budget funds for specific items of equipment.
