Title:

Resolution authorizing application, acceptance and expenditure of an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant.

 

Analysis: 

This resolution authorizes application, acceptance and expenditure of an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, through the Milwaukee County Department of Administrative Services.

                        

Body:                      

Whereas, Under the terms of CFDA #16.738, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, through the Milwaukee County Department of Administrative Services, for an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant; and

 

Whereas, The purpose of this grant is to purchase video cameras for the squad cars; and

 

Whereas, The operation of this grant program from October 1, 2005 to September 30, 2009 would cost $371,873, of which 100% would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 030712; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

 

1.  Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2006 Special Revenue -Grant and Aid Projects, the following amounts for the program titled: Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant:

2.  Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Milwaukee Police Department which is authorized to:

 

1.  Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;

 

2.  Expend from the 2006 grant budget funds for specific items of equipment.
