Analysis
This resolution authorizes the issuance of an amendment and execution of same to accommodate the abatement of both lead and asbestos found to have been used during the original construction of the windows of the Linnwood Water Purification Plant.

Whereas, Milwaukee Water Works issued Contract C641050131 in the amount of $412,884 on December 29, 2005 to J.F. Cook Co., Inc. for Pump Room Window Replacements and HVAC Upgrades; and
Whereas, Contract C64105031 requires the verification that field conditions are acceptable and are ready to receive work; and
Whereas, The field verification process revealed that both lead and asbestos levels exceed regulatory limits; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to issue an amendment to Contract C641050131 in an amount not to exceed $250,000; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the additional funds be transferred from the appropriate Water Works capital account.
